Last Minute Easter Treat And Gift Ideas!

My first Easter post! I have at least one more [hopefully two], so be sure to keep checking back here or on my Twitter !

"CARROT" TREAT

This would make a super easy, cute and yummy dessert for after Easter dinner! This is honestly so simple to put together and it takes about a minute to construct one. Perfect if you're in need of a last minute dessert.

All you need is;
  • carrot container [you can find these at almost all the same places as the plastic eggs]
  • spoon
  • chocolate pudding
  • gummy worms
  • green sprinkles
  • Oreos [optional]

Fill your carrot cup about 3/4 to completely full of chocolate pudding and drape a gummy worm over the edge.

Make sure the tail end of the gummy worm is slightly buried to make it seem as if the worm is coming out of the dirt.

If you'd like you can crush some Oreo bits onto the top for more texture and to make it look more like dirt, I unfortunately didn't have any, otherwise I would have.

To finish it off shake on some green sprinkles for grass.

For a to go dessert snack simply tuck in the gummy worm and put the carrot lid on.

Send me a picture if you / your family try this dessert out ! [links to my social media are below]

EGG GIFT

It always sucks when someone gets you a gift or even just hints at giving you a gift. This is an effortless way to ensure you still have a great gift to give [even if it's a "just in case they're serious" precaution gift]. All you have to do is head to your local drug store and grab some of their favourite travel sized products!

Great options include mascara, eye liner, lip gloss, as well as face and eyelid primers.

Be warned that the regular small eggs won't close because most travel sized products are still slightly too large for them, but they can still look absolutely adorable if you leave them half open and place them in a basket or something with some pastel coloured filler at the bottom.

Lemme know in the comments what you would put in the egg for a gift!

January / February Favourites !

Kay, wow, so I know I'm super late with February favourites [and I completely forgot January] but I still want to put this up just because. All my favourites are categorized and in no specific order.

BEAUTY

Bethany Mota Perfume

I was a bit sceptical when I first heard Bethers had a new perfume [it came out at the end of last year]. Partly because I find most perfumes are way too strong and just start to smell weird after a while, and the other because it's got a hint of vanilla and personally, vanilla is used SO often.
This stuff is actually ah-mazing though. The scent lasts all day and the vanilla is mixed with flowers [when I first got it I spent five minutes just sniffing it]. Even the bottle is aesthetically pleasing in a heart shape with gold sparkles from the bottom up and even charms around the lid.

St.Ives Face Wash

I've been using the St.Ives Apricot Scrub for the longest time, and while I love it, it wasn't the best for my skin because I was exfoliating EVERY day. Not good. I decided to start using the St.Ives Green Tea Cleanser as my daily face wash and the apricot scrub weekly. I will admit my face does still get dry and break out once in a while but that's life [and it doesn't seem to be as often / as bad *knocks on wood*].

NYC City Curls Mascara

To be perfectly honest, I only bought this because it was on sale and it was cheap but I do not regret it one bit! It is so amazing. It has a curled wand so a lash curler isn't needed. My favourite part of this mascara is that it doesn't clump lashes together, so they look fuller and absolutely gorgeous!

ENTERTAINMENT

In To The Woods

I recently went back to my old high school to watch their annual musical performance, and it was super good. I haven't seen the movie so this was my very first time seeing it in any medium and hearing the songs. The cast did a great job throwing in some comedy to lighten the mood. My favourite songs were 'I Know Things Now', 'It Takes Two', and 'Your Fault'.

Boy Meets World

Topanga and Cory are the ultimate OTP, and Eric Matthews is just downright adorkable and my fav. I never watched this show growing up, but it's honestly so good. If you're a fan of Girl Meets World then I suggest you check out this show to see where it all started [and vice-versa].

Frasier

A classic! If you have not watched this show, I HIGHLY suggest you go check it out. My favourite episode is "The Two Mrs.Cranes". If you only ever watch one episode - make it that one! It is by far the funniest one I have seen so far.

The Fault In Our Stars

You will cry. My first time watching this was with one of my best friends and we had a competition to see who would cry first. I lost because I have a soul. KIDDING! She watched it before hand so she knew what was going to happen. I have not read the book yet, but I plan on doing so after I finish the series I am currently reading [SPOILER: it'll be in next months favourites].

FOOD / DRINKS

Oatmeal

This is the best either in the morning for breakfast [obvi] but also at night as a bedtime snack. It's not heavy, but it's filling and it's healthy. You just can't go wrong. It's especially nice to eat on a cold day because it's a warm food, so it's like a warm hug on the inside.

Banana Chips

Whenever I found myself craving chips of some kind I would grab these instead! They've got a great crunch and they fill the craving. You can actually even buy little bags of these at Dollarama, and they make a great snack to take on the go or for work.

Celestial Seasonings Fruit Sampler

I love tea, but my addiction with fruit tea started with the Second Cup Wildberry tea [iced and hot]. Sampler packs are a great way to try out new teas without having to buy a whole pack and end up not liking it.

OTHERS

Charger

I used to have a super cute white, pink, black and green zebra print charger for my tablet but unfortunately it split and became a fire hazard so I was forced to get a new one. They only had black or blue available, but these are great because they're inexpensive and since my phone and tablet are the same brand and make [Samsung] this charger works for both!

Epsom Salt

I got a second piercing in my ear shortly before 2014 ended which means I had to spend the first few weeks after cleaning my ear twice a day. So, epsom salt became like one of my best friends.

St. Patrick's Day Nails!

Don't get psyched out by the four-leaf clover on the one nail because it's really not as hard as you would think.

You don't need the specific brand, anything similar will work just fine. I used;

  • NYC French White Tip
  • Claire's Neon Green [two way nail art pen and brush]
  • L.A. Colors Art Deco in black
  • NYC Matte Me Crazy Top Coat

STEP ONE

Paint your nails completely white, at least two coats to ensure no bits of your natural nail will be peaking through.

STEP TWO

Using your green nail polish [mine had the brush and pen- I used the pen] paint a stripe in the middle of your nails except for one on each hand. You don't want the stripe to be too thin or too thick, 1/3 is the best size.

STEP THREE

This is the hardest step of them all, but it's not too bad. Having a steady hand or something to lightly rest your hand on helps. A good four-leaf clover doesn't need to be full of detail, keep that in mind! The easiest way to do this is with a nail polish pen because they're a bit easier to control than a brush. All you need to do is to make two dots for each of the three leaves, then spread the nail polish to connect the dots and make your shape. Try to only add more nail polish after the dots if you absolutely have to, otherwise the nail polish could run and create a blob.

STEP FOUR

With the black art polish you want to make two lines on the outsides of the green stripes to define them and draw more attention to the green. [If you're really talented, or want to try, you can give outlining the four-leaf clover a go. I didn't because I knew I would mess it up].

Finish with a top coat and voila ! You're ready to go out and "casually" use your hands more often to show off your nails.

PRODUCT REVIEW - Olay Fresh Effects {Long Live Moisture} Satin Finish Lotion

Winter is the WORST time ever for my skin. It gets unbelievably dry and nothing - I mean NOTHING, can fix it. Until now that is.

This lotion does everything you would want it to. It hydrates your skin without leaving it looking super shiny. The very first time I used this, I was pretty sceptical thinking this moisturiser would be just like every other one I've tried.

Within the first week I noticed I could skip a day of moisturising if I absolutely had to. The only time I really had to apply more was to my nose and that was simply because I had a cold and was constantly blowing my nose.

Depending on your budget this can be a bit expensive, considering the size of the actual bottle, although after using it I found the price totally reasonable and affordable [just over $10]. Especially since a little goes a long way.

One of the other things I love about this product is the scent. Sounds a little weird, but it honestly smells so fresh and clean [the bottle looks fresh and clean too, but that's just an added bonus].

All in all, if you suffer from extremely dry skin in the winter I suggest giving this moisturiser a try because it's definitely helped me and I was almost positive my face was going to be a lost cause.

If you're looking for added moisture and even a bit of coverage try using the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream on top of the moisturiser. Together it's an absolute DREAM TEAM.
